I’m not very happy with today’s shot. Technically, it’s pretty poor. For starters, the depth of field is too shallow… all of the Dummies books should be in focus. To compensate for the DOF issues, I tried to sharpen the left side of the dummies books with PhotoShop’s smart sharpen feature. It helped (barely), but better technique while shooting would have been better. Then, to make matters worse, I processed the shot way too much… moody overlay effect and another gradient overlay to subdue the books on the left.
I shot a few others things at the office today. One I liked (more than the books) was of a clock, but I want to take another run at that tomorrow. It had a bad highlight that obscured one of the hands. When I shoot it again I’ll pay more attention to the highlight… plus, I didn’t want to post clocks two days in a row.
Or maybe I should just relax a little, huh?
